Why Community Matters at A7 Farms

Community is at the heart of everything we do at A7 Farms. Farming is about more than food—it’s about connection, trust, and sharing the blessings God provides. From the very beginning, our journey has been deeply tied to the people around us.

One of our first experiences with this was when my wife met Tony, a man walking his dogs along our county road. A simple conversation turned into a friendship, and soon Tony was teaching my children boxing, guiding us through yoga, and encouraging us in physical fitness. In return, we gave him eggs. It may not have felt like equal payment, but it was a trade rooted in trust and kindness—and that has more value than money ever could.

From there, we began sharing eggs with Alan and Charlie, neighbors down our private road. At first, we weren’t even selling—we just wanted to share what we had. Watching their joy and support reminded us that good food builds strong bonds.

Our children have been a part of this community building too. Grayson, with his excitement about chicks, coops, and incubators, naturally promotes the farm every chance he gets. Eli and Lyla are learning to care for the flock, gaining confidence even when “Joe Rooster” tries to throw his weight around. These small family moments shape not just our farm, but the way we connect with others.

I’ll admit—selling food has been one of my biggest fears. What if someone got sick from something I sold? What if pricing felt awkward or unfair? But over time, I’ve learned that giving and sharing first builds trust. We’ve given away a lot of eggs, and often people were surprised by the gesture. But to me, it wasn’t about profit. It was about community. If God provides us more than we need, why wouldn’t we share it?

That doesn’t mean farming doesn’t come with costs. Feed, supplies, and improvements all add up, and breaking even is often the goal. Still, I believe that if we provide good food, raised with love and care, God will provide for our needs.

Looking ahead, I hope to grow A7 Farms into a place known for wholesome, affordable food and a spirit of generosity. I see us at local farmer’s markets, perhaps one day offering CSA boxes to families across Texas. And beyond that, I dream of creating a farm where my children—and maybe even my grandchildren—will want to gather, celebrate, and build memories.

For me, farming isn’t about getting rich. It’s about ensuring that everyone eats, and eats well. It’s about reflecting God’s love through food, friendship, and community.

Thank you for being a part of our story. I pray that our journey inspires others to support local farms, to share what they have, and to embrace the power of community.

God bless,
A7 Farms
