From the City to the Country

The Journey to A-7 Farms

Our story didn’t start with tractors, fields, or rows of chickens—it started in a small town, where life felt a little tight and the days a little too fast. When the world slowed down during COVID, our family began to dream about something different. We wanted space to breathe, space for the kids to grow wild and free, and space to build a life rooted in the land.

So, with a mix of nerves and hope, we packed up and moved out to the country. At first, it was about the little things—long walks down gravel roads, wide open skies, and the sound of the wind instead of traffic. But before long, we found ourselves wanting to do more than just live on this land. We wanted to tend it, care for it, and let it shape us.

Emily and I knew it wouldn’t happen overnight. Still, step by step, we began. The first additions were hens—a few clucky girls who provided enough eggs to feed our family. Elijah, our oldest, was the first to proudly gather them, carefully cradling each egg in his hands like treasure. Grayson soon followed, always quick to turn chores into adventures. Lyla, with her endless curiosity, loved to watch the hens scratch and peck, while Kyra’s laughter filled the air as she chased feathers blowing in the wind.

And now, with another little one on the way this January, we can’t help but smile knowing they’ll grow up in the middle of this too.

Out of these small beginnings, A-7 Farms was born—not from big plans or instant success, but from love, family, and a longing for a simpler, fuller life. Our dream now is to grow beyond eggs, planting gardens that will overflow with vegetables, herbs, and fruit. We see fields where our children will learn the value of hard work, the wonder of creation, and the joy of sharing what we grow with others.

It’s still just the beginning, but that’s the beauty of it. We’re not rushing. This journey is meant to be walked slowly, with gratitude in every step. And as our family grows—both in number and in dreams—so will A-7 Farms.

We’d love for you to follow along as we grow—one egg, one seed, and one story at a time.
